I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you, because by supporting me and my business, you’re also investing in causes close to my heart.

Working happy

Protecting a work culture which is inclusive, sustainable and fun.

Equality & inclusivity
I am a company of one, but I do hire freelance support occasionally. Commissions will always be based on ability and attitude, nothing else. Creatives, let’s connect. Clients, let’s tell stories that everyone can see themselves in. All races, backgrounds, beliefs, abilities, sizes, orientations and identities.

When I’m enlisting a team, I take responsibility for ensuring fair fees for them.
I won’t consider or endorse (by referring on) work that has no budget or inadequate budget.

Positive relationships
I have a zero-tolerance policy on bully tactics and dishonesty – for my sake, for my team, and on behalf of the rest of the freelance community. Happy partnerships, happy results.

Giving back

Charity donations, and volunteer roles made possible by flexible working.

Women for Women International
Did you know that ordering through Amazon Smile means donating a portion of the fee to your nominated charity? It’s such a simple way to give a little back. Every time I have to order kit or supplies (which is a lot, in this line of work!), this virtual penny jar contributes to helping women survivors of war.

Befriending with Blind Veterans
Working outside the constraints of a 9-5 allows me to spend 1-2 hours per week helping to tackle loneliness and isolation experienced by those with visual impairments/sight loss.

Promoting mental health in the media world
5% of my fees for all speaking opportunities are donated to NABS, the charity dedicated to improving wellness in the media industry through their free helpline, career coaching, and inspiring events.

Paying it forward

Supporting media graduates and new freelancers in their careers.

I am now a registered mentor through my university’s alumni association, supporting soon-to-be graduates with their career questions, CVs and self-confidence.
For those outside of the university system but interested in a career in the media, I am making freely available my answers to students’ most Frequently Asked Questions – check back here soon. You can also always email me to set up a 30-minute careers chat.

Free tips for becoming your own boss
Working on your own terms is exciting and rewarding – but at first it’s often stressful, expensive, and surprisingly lonely. I’m currently putting together a free, downloadable resource for those just starting out, with top tips, resources and heaps of encouragement for your new venture. Check back here soon.
